Mark 8:34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
Jesus calls us to “pick up” our cross, to embrace the card we have been dealt. He lived his whole life as an example to us all. Not just how we should live but how we can overcome. Jesus knew what would be the ultimate “end” of His life on earth. Yet He didn’t dwell on it nor did He use it as an excuse to not do what He was put on earth to do. Jesus, lead the people that God gave Him. He taught the disciples, healed the sick, and raised the dead back to life. His suffering wasn’t just at Calvary; He suffered many times before that glorious day. Jesus lived through the death of His earthly father, the death by beheading of his cousin John, the suffering of the people around Him. Jesus didn’t have a steady place to live, sleep or eat. He went where ever He was lead and welcomed. He loved and cared for everyone. No time for self-pity. There was a life to live and people to bring to salvation. Although His life was short it was a productive one, He embraced His fate and lived His life fully. Shalom
